About Me

I have a strong passion for the education sector, particularly in Mathematics. While I was an average student in Mathematics during my early years, I found a unique approach that helped me improve and exceed my expectations.

Academic Achievement

Utilising my innovative study method, I not only attained an A* in my GCSE Maths but also earned the highest score in my entire year group. My strategy included:

  • Carefully identifying the specific topics I needed to review.

  • Examining the marks I lost on previous assessments to focus my study efforts effectively.

This can be hard for students to do, so if you want me to do it for you, let me mark a past paper for you.

Professional Experience

Graduate with a BSc Mathematics with French (2:1) from Royal Holloway, University of London, with 9 years of experience helping pupils achieve their academic goals.

Experience:

  • Primary Outreach Project: Planned and delivered Maths lessons for Year 5 pupils preparing for the UKMT Junior Challenge, building confidence through tailored support.

  • Future Teaching Scholars: Gained strong pedagogical foundations in safeguarding, SEND, and scaffolding. Completed assignments on barriers to Maths learning. Although I left for personal reasons, I continue to receive CPD.

  • MyTutor: Delivered 200+ online lessons with an average 5-star rating. Adapted sessions to individual needs and addressed common misconceptions.

  • Learning Support Assistant & Tutor: Supported pupils with SEND to access Maths alongside peers. Broke down complex concepts across subjects to ensure no pupil was left behind. Helped one pupil improve by a full grade and achieved high firsts in my resit modules (74%, 81%, 84%).

  • Teach First: Completed Autumn Institute, receiving training in assessment, Rosenshine’s principles, lesson planning and modelling. Deferred due to placement issues but recognised for grit and determination.

I’m passionate about helping pupils build confidence in Maths and apply it across various disciplines.

Availability: Weekdays 10am–7pm (last lesson at 6pm) and Saturdays 10am–1pm (last at 12pm).

Looking forward to helping your child reach their potential!

Impact on Education

My journey from an average student to a top performer highlights the significance of personalised learning strategies and perseverance. My story inspires both students and educators, showing that with the right approach, anyone can achieve excellence in their studies.

Through tutoring over 200 lessons, I've had the privilege of making a impact on my students' academic outcomes. One remarkable success story is student who improved from a grade 2 to a grade 4, showcasing not only enhanced academic performance but also a newfound confidence in mathematics. Witnessing such transformations is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continue supporting students in their learning journeys.

My Story

Back in secondary school, I wasn’t what you’d call a high achiever. In my Year 10 mock exams, I scored a B in Maths, an E in Drama, an F in French, and Ds across most other subjects. But with dedication – and the support of a French tutor – I turned things around. By the time I finished my GCSEs, I had earned A*s, As, and Bs, including an A* in Maths, an A in French, and even a B in Drama.

I went on to study Maths, Further Maths, and French at A Level at a prestigious grammar school, then pursued a degree in Mathematics with French at Royal Holloway, University of London. University wasn’t without its challenges – I had to resit some Maths modules, and I narrowly missed a first in French by just 1%. But I didn’t give up. I remembered how tutoring had helped me once before, so I sought help again. Working with a tutor deepened my understanding of mathematical reasoning, and soon I was consistently achieving 2:1s and Firsts in my past papers. In the end, I graduated with a 2:1 in BSc Mathematics with French, achieving 84%, 81% and 74% in my resits.

Tutoring has played a pivotal role in my academic journey – not just as a student, but as a teacher. It’s made me more empathetic, more effective, and more passionate about helping others succeed. That’s why I started Formulas and Beyond: to give back to the community that helped me grow, and to guide students through the same transformation I went through.
